19 questions
What is Interpsy?
Interpsy is a platform where you find psychotherapists who fit your language and concerns. We facilitate the connection — therapy is provided by qualified professionals.
Link to this questionHow does online psychotherapy work on Interpsy?
You complete a short orientation, browse matching profiles, and book a session yourself. Sessions take place by video — securely and with clear terms from the start.
Link to this questionIs Interpsy a crisis hotline?
No. Interpsy is not an emergency service or live crisis line. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in Austria/Germany) or a helpline such as TelefonSeelsorge (142).
Link to this questionHow do I find a suitable therapist?
Use search and filters for language, topics, and practical preferences. Profiles describe qualifications and focus areas — you decide who to contact.
Link to this questionWhich languages are available?
Interpsy connects you with therapists for multilingual psychotherapy — including German, English, and Turkish. Therapy in your language can make getting started easier.
Link to this questionHow much does a session cost?
Fees are set by therapists and shown on their profile. Many therapists offer a free 10–20 minute intro call — you can see it on their profile and when booking.
Link to this questionIs my data protected?
Yes. Interpsy uses encrypted connections and clear privacy processes. Session content belongs to you and your therapist — the platform is not a medical record system.
Link to this questionCan I choose my therapist freely?
Yes. You select from available profiles. If it is not a fit, you can explore others — the platform does not auto-assign a therapist.
Link to this questionCan I cancel a session?
Yes, in your dashboard. Up to 24 hours before the start you get the full price back, after that 50%. If your therapist cancels, you always get everything back. See our terms & cancellation policy for details.
Link to this questionWhat if the video does not start?
Reload the session page, allow camera and microphone in your browser and use an up-to-date version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. If it still does not work, report the problem in your dashboard right after the session or email us — we review every case.
Link to this questionHow can I reach the Interpsy team?
Use the form on the Help & contact page or write to support@interpsy.at. We reply on working days, usually within two working days. Please don't send us health details.
Link to this questionWhich professional is right for me – psychotherapy, clinical psychology or counselling?
Psychotherapists and clinical psychologists treat emotional strain and mental illness; for these sessions your health insurer may reimburse part of the cost. Psychological counsellors and coaches support you with life questions, relationships and work – that is not medical treatment and is not reimbursed. Every profile shows the legally protected professional title.
Link to this questionDoes my health insurer pay anything?
For sessions with psychotherapists and clinical psychologists you can apply to your health insurer (e.g. ÖGK, BVAEB, SVS) for a reimbursement. You pay the session first and then submit the receipt. How much is reimbursed and which conditions apply (e.g. a doctor's confirmation) is up to your insurer.
Link to this questionIs there a free intro call?
Many therapists offer a free 10–20 minute intro call by video. You'll see it on the profile and when booking; it's possible once per therapist.
Link to this questionCan we come as a couple or family?
Yes, with professionals who offer joint sessions. You'll see the “couple or family session” with its own price on the profile and choose it when booking. The session takes place on one shared device or in the practice.
Link to this questionCan I join without a camera?
Yes. Before joining you can choose “without camera” and take part with audio only. You can switch the camera on at any time during the session.
Link to this questionCan I write to my therapist between sessions?
If your therapist offers messages, yes – after a booked session. Messages are stored encrypted and are not an emergency channel; the usual reply time is shown in the conversation.
Link to this questionHow do I exchange documents, e.g. the doctor's confirmation?
After a booked session, you'll find all documents between you and your therapist under “Documents” in your account. Files (PDF or photos up to 20 MB) are stored encrypted and only the two of you can open them.
Link to this questionHow do I get my data or delete my account?
In your settings under “Privacy” you can request a copy of your data or delete your account. Receipts that the law requires us to keep remain in that form.
